Parental Engagement at Chisenhale School

Research shows that children do better at school when their parents are actively involved in their education so we provide plenty of opportunities for parents to participate in school life.

Parents and carers play an important role in the school as governors, volunteers and members of the PTA. They also help run after-school and golden clubs with staff, like our gardening and cooking clubs and are welcomed into school to offer their expertise. Several parents also volunteer to help supervise children in the dinner hall, library and playgrounds, and to help children with their reading.

Parents are also welcome to drop in to one of the workshops or courses that we run in the community room in the school house and in the library. Other events for parents and carers are advertised in the weekly newsletter, on the website and on the noticeboards in the playgrounds and include summer and winter fetes and ‘bring your family to school’ days.

The community room has lots of information about local places of interest and events, and details of services available to parents and carers – feel free to come in and have a browse or ask for advice.

Ruth Crossan, our parental engagement officer, is in school every day to support families. She can help with filling out forms, making phone calls and advising on practical and emotional issues affecting parents and their children. Catch her in the main playground before or after school to make an appointment, leave a message for her in the office or email her on: rcrossan.211@lgflmail.org.
