Date: 31/12/2020 School is closed to most pupils
Dear parent or carer,
Firstly can I say our thoughts are with the members of our school and local community who have lost loved ones and who are unwell and suffering at this time. As I am sure you are aware, the Government has announced that Tower Hamlets Primary Schools will be closed until further notice to the majority of pupils to help contain the community transmission of the coronavirus.
Chisenhale School will be closed, as planned on Monday 4th January for Staff Training. From Tuesday 5th January learning will be online for the children via our Google Classroom platform. Your child will need to log in to the Google Meet registration each day at the time below, and complete the work set during the day.
Year Group 5 and 6 - 8.40am
Years 3 and 4 - 9.00am
Years 1 and 2 - 9.20am
Reception and Nursery - 9.40am
Can my child come to school? School is open for the following:
Children with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
Children with a social worker
Children of parents whose work is critical to the Coronavirus response (see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19- maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-andlocal-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision)
If you would like your child to attend school under any of the above criteria, please email email@example.com We will then provide information regarding the times, drop off and pick up arrangements.
Can I get a laptop from school for my child to learn remotely? We have a limited number of laptops to loan to children so that they can complete their learning at home. We hope to have enough for all those who need one, but may have to ask families to share if demand is high. The laptops will be available for collection on Monday 4th January at the following times:
Years 5&6 between 10am and 10.30am
Years 3&4 between 10.30am and 11am
Years 1&2 between 11am and 11.30am
Years Reception and Nursery between 11.30am and 12pm
If you need a laptop please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Will there be food provision for Free School Meals Children learning at home?
We are expecting to hear more from the local authority today and will keep you informed. But, we expect there will be the school meal food bags which will be available to collect from school later in the week. We will be in touch with all parents of children on our Free School Meals list.
This situation is evolving, and will be reviewed, we understand after two weeks.
Teachers will all be responding to the children’s learning online daily and providing the work for the children.
We had a number of cases reported in our school community during the Christmas break and the situation in Tower Hamlets is very serious, both in terms of rates of infection and the pressure on the NHS to support those who are very poorly. We understand children and parents will be disappointed not to be in school, but hope that it won’t be too long before things improve and we are all back together. I will continue to keep you informed via email.
Wishing everyone a safe and healthy New Year.
Sharon Taylor, Headteacher
